The Flea Party
Monday, August 26, 2013 | Posted by Janice | 0 comment/s
Hello everyone!

Had a booth at the Flea Party organised by ForFleaSake.com over the weekend!

Overall, it's a fun experience. It's can be really overwhelming if you're selling your stuff alone, as the crowd there can be overly enthusiastic (read: aggressive). You'll need someone to keep an eye on the crowd to make sure that nobody takes anything away without paying.

For me, I shared a booth with Joey and Joanna, my cousins. We three have ALOT of clothes to sell. Due to us recently having our room renovated, we had the chance to really look through our clothes to filter out what we want and what we don't wish to keep.

Business was better on Saturday (as in, clothes can be sold at a price range of $4-8 with no problem), and as for Sunday, most of our stuff was sold at about $2/pcs. Saturday has more youngsters and working class Filipinos, while more maids turned up on Sunday.

When we first arrive, the potential customers there are like pestering us to set up our booth quickly! Then they literally help us to open our luggage and pour everything out on the table! They are THAT enthusiastic. The crowd kept us busy all the way for Saturday, while on Sunday the crowd comes in droves.

This is a snapshot of the chaos. Okay not really the busiest point but one of it. *JG's face has to be blocked*

 Our signs. HAHA.
Group shot that turned out blur because D is a bad photographer. heh.

On Sunday, after we start to sell our things at $2, our price quickly dropped to $1/pcs or even $0.50/pcs towards the end of the day. Business was slower on the second day, and frankly, having already made a profit on the first day, we just want to get rid of all the items on our hand and sell everything. Out last customer bought the last of our clothes (about 11pcs) at only $3! That's how desperate we were. HAHA.

This is a great way to get rid of items that are no longer needed. Sell it off at a cheap price to somebody who wants it more, and make a small profit at the same time. :)

For anyone who is going for upcoming Flea Parties at Lucky Plaza, do keep in mind these pointers.

1) Although it says 1pm-7pm on the website, you can actually start up your booth from 11.30am onwards.

We came at 12.30pm the first day, thinking that we're already early. Turns out we're kinda late! The sign outside the area says that all flea operators can come in from 11.30am onwards, which is what we did for the second day.

2) Don't bother looking for the organiser, just pick a booth and start selling. The organisers will come to look for you to verify shortly after.

We spent 15mins on the first day trying to look for the organiser. I had to ask other Flea operators where they are.

3) Don't bother folding your clothes. The crowd will just mess up your clothes into a pile anyway.

We actually sectioned off our clothes to remember the price of each item.... but the crowd didn't care about that. In the end we gave the pricing based on our instincts.

4) Sell your clothes cheap, if not it won't be sold.

It's hard to sell anything that's more than $8, really.

5) Pick a good booth! The flea area has many different entry points, and JG found one that's quite near one of them.

That's mainly everything. Now my wardrobe is half empty, really to be filled with clothes again. :)

A few camwhore shots to end off the post!

Posting this just because my hair looks super awesome here. HAHA.
